about

Dan Dub Lounge is no stranger to the Freebooter Lounge with Universal Highway and Active Distance LPs both receiving huge DJ and radio support.

Alongside his solo releases, Dan has played on many past Freebooter releases and many forthcoming too.

This time, Dan gets the remix treatment from two Belfast heavyweights, Muzka and Timmy Stewart - both mixes brilliant, unique and full of musicality.

Freebooters ahoy.

Muzka is a DJ and Producer from Belfast, Northern Ireland, spinning music for nearly three decades. He developed a passion for music as a child, experimenting with mix tapes and scratching on his mom's hi-fi. Influenced by hip hop acts like Public Enemy and De La Soul, he gravitated towards DJing and was inspired by Grandmaster Flash, DJ Premier, and DJ Cash Money. At 15, he acquired his first set of turntables and became an avid record digger. While initially mixing various genres like electro, funk, hip hop, disco, soul, and dub, Muzka's musical focus shifted after attending a Sabres Of Paradise show in Belfast at David Holmes and Iain McCreadys ‘Sugar Sweet’ night. This experience introduced him to the world of house and techno music adding to his existing list of genres and prompting him to start his own Friday night event called 'Runaway' featuring a mix of DJs with diverse vinyl collections. Muzka went on to secure residencies, guest slots, and radio appearances, consistently embracing a wide range of genres and emphasizing that good music knows no boundaries. Muzka has supported and performed alongside notable artists such as Mr Scruff, Scratch Perverts, DJ Shadow and Goldie among others and his productions blend sampling, hardware synths, and drum machines, showcasing his unique sound.

Northern Irish DJ Timmy Stewart got his first major break securing a residency at David Holmes’ influential Art College events where he developed a reputation for his DJing and planted the seeds of his own future endeavours. He went on to create popular Belfast club nights Digital Boogie, Tsunami, Islandhopper & Keep Diggin’.

He has an extensive back catalogue of music production that includes remix work for artists such as Two Lone Swordsmen & Frankie Knuckles and in 2022 had material featured on compilations for both Hostal La Torre & Café Del Mar.

Timmy is currently resident DJ & promotor at the Night Institute in Belfast, which recently celebrated 8 years of running events in the city.

He’s also one half of the crate-digging DJ and production duo
Black Bones, who put their stamp on the production world over the last few years. Their initial edit series created 7 highly collectible 12”s, securing plays and plaudits from some of the world’s best DJs & record stores. This led to recording DJ mixes for Apiento’s Test Pressing & Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space, writing original material for Touch Sensitive, Hoga Nord and most recently releasing with Duca Bianco & Optimo Music.

Last Summer Timmy played guest slots at Pikes in Ibiza and the Golden Lion in Todmorden as well as hosting multiple shows on BBC radio, ensuring his place at the forefront of cutting-edge electronic music culture in Ireland, something he has done for over two decades.
